Right versus the Left
“Business is more about doing and less about reflecting”Gurucharan Das.There are so many Indians on the global business map.We are not only creating spiritual gurus but also business guru.
As Mr Das has rightly reflected guru stands for “Good at understanding but relatively Useless.’
There are too many people on the Indian business space, who have very high IQ’s but fail as managers. Employees in today’s organization need executional abilities besides having as pinch of vision.
To my mind there are two types of people- The Consultants and Non Consultants. Consultants are the kind of individuals who have a very good left brain with a comparatively dead right brain(which needs honing). However what is needed on the ground level is an active right brain with a pinch of left brain( to understand which jobs to prioritize and understand the macro picture)
Determination and persistence are the more needed qualities to succeed in the business. These qualities lie on the right side of the brain whereas analytical abilities lie on the left side.
Ironically our education system teaches us to analyse, ofcourse one might argue that all students don’t need to join the corporate world/business community. But when one steps into the business school one expects them to clear this bias.
Millions and millions of our government employees who have entered the government services through IAS and other competitive examinations also lack this ability to implement.Which is why we have such few success stories like the Delhi Metro, the white revolution.
There are ample examples, like Dhirubhai Ambani, who have not graduated from any business school, but still have been successful since they have an excellent right brain, which helps them implement things better, with a dash of analytical ability. No loss of not going to a Business School or sitting for those competitive examinations which are a passport to the cushy government posts.
A well developed right brain makes ordinary people do extraordinary things .

Pooja: Congratulations...enjoy your job...you have a poor right barin...means that you have a good brain..cheers:)
Examinations are merely a test of performance, not intelligence. Somewhere in the minds that line blurs.
Similarly education does not tantamount to success. It just works on the odds, that too fractionally.
What gets you there is the hunger (encapsulating passion, drive, will and guts) and hard work?
And yes, luck.
But then again, the harder you work, the luckier you get.
nice post... cheers
Spot on! The perpetual bureaucracy flows through the jugular of our world, but its capillaries suck all the blood from the brain resulting in inefficiencies and folk in the constant struggle of justifying their positions while doing nothing toward progress or addressing issues of justice and equity. It’s amazing we accomplish anything as societies!
Thanks for popping by my blog!
