Thanks,Bill Watterson

The server in our office is not working and its a dull boring day. While office colleagues gossiped and housewives slept, I sneaked into the crossword on the first floor of our office building and treated myself to yet another series of Calvin and Hobbes.

I was thoroughly entertained, educated and relaxed at the same time. The humour is so unmistakable, I laughed out loud so many times, that I had to literally hide in the bookshelves to save myself from the staring glances of other readers and staff members.

Needless to say that I feel that they are complete morons to think that anybody can read Calvin with a measured behavior in public!!!!

I love Calvin’s intelligence, arrogance, innocence, sadism.

I promise to buy myself the entire series…..if it makes me so happy…..

Life isn’t about surviving, inhaling and exhaling air….

Unlike a long stretch of tar, its a journey, which when in present tense it’s a horror movie and when in past tense a comic opera. Which is why when I read Calvin I can relate to his loathe of going to school, his love for the cookie jar and his crush on Susie Derkins. Problems, so intense that he often transforms into Spaceman Spiff or stupendous man.

These little moments which detach us from present life and transport us into a world of a innocent fun ,when everything is amorphous, shapeless, intangible, yet powerful enough to make a difference to the otherwise stressful more tangible life.

I think we should all treat our souls to such moments more often….

In the make belief world
Of our everyday lives

Is a castle
Ruined under the oceans deep
Waiting
To be discovered by a lone sun ray
Which can cut though the waves

Deep

The castle was
Thriving
Ruined by dust
From your office desk
And soot from the cities traffic

Lurked and breathed its last
At the traffic signal
While you zoomed the last lap
to reach a place
you were warned against.

******
Its time
For bloom
Sunshine
And some moon

Its time for a red rose
On the white snow bed

*******

Call for a rainbow
And wear dark glasses
And wonder why you didn’t see

They say when its time
You will know

You use a stop watch
And wonder why time never changed

You wear a devil’s mask
And wonder why people don’t laugh

Leave a little space
To penetrate
For the lone sun ray….
