TERROR....
Terror strikes Mumbai, yet again. 10 people (lets hope they were no more) enter the city of Mumbai with guns and weapons and killed ordinary people in Mumbai. The rest of the ordinary people watched it live on television as our senior police officials died. We waited for the NSG to be airlifted from Delhi and brought to site where they were needed.
We watched as our politicians played the blame game and tried to gain political mileage from the incident. We watched as top business officials were being killed, as Leopold was attacked and The Taj and Oberoi went up in flames. The streets of Mumbai were deserted and one could sense fear on the road.people exchanged suspicious glances at each other as rumours poured in that some terrorists could be at large.
Ordinary people looked at other ordinary people with suspicion because the profile of terrorist has changed. They are well educated, tech savvy and young like you and me.
We have always watched when the 1993 serial blasts happened in Mumbai, when the train blasts happened and yet again we will watch.
We will return to work to Mumbai, engage in some discussions about how poorly the security is managed, how the sea coast is difficult to safeguard, how helpless a ordinary citizen is and can do nothing but return to normal lives to show the resilience to the terrorists.
We do little to show politicians how angry we are, how unsafe we feel because by bringing our lives to normalcy we let them return to there’s.
What are the ways in which in an ordinary man can put pressure on the politicians, because more than operational difficulties, it’s the political will that is lacking.
Gaurding a coastline might be difficult, but we do have a long coastline and steps need to be taken to protect the same.
How dare few terrorists enter the city and shoot civilians! The city looked no different from a Kenya with army trucks carrying soldiers and encounters happening in highly residential places! How can we ever walk the Colaba causeway in the same manner!!
The lives of ordinary people are unsafe and it is for us ordinary people to take actions because politics is business and it does not make business sense to nurture a cost center if things can continue with normalcy!
I can sense anger and insecurity among people as they have come to office today. Everybody wants to do something but does not know what and how. Everybody seems to be fed up of the security situation in India but does not know how to get the message across to government in power.
I understand that India is a poor country and the defense budgets aren’t high. We need to deal with terror all over the country and the resources don’t suffice. There are many more lives which are lost in Kashmir and the Northeast.
But defending the entire country isn’t something that can be compromised with. Terrorists are making a statement when they attack a Taj, the Parliament. The importance of protecting these areas is equally important as protecting a Kashmir. I am sure people living in Mumbai can pay for the security of the city. A deduction of say Rs 50,000 each year from the salaries upwards of say Rs 700000 can be made. How many of us refuse to pay from our salaries, when a Tsunami strikes?
It is time “ordinary” people did something…..

As is..
Life is beautiful..almost surreal, in its clarity, its colour , its pace
The sky is clear…like in a picture and the winds clean…
The space around me still…if I snap my finger, I did disturb the quiet of the place.
Most people from past life want to know what I am doing, and if I do ever send them a documentary…It would be the most boring thing they ever read….how does one ever document nothingness and blank space?
I am in a place that’s famous for nothing and goes nowhere and there isn’t much that one can do either….but if I did have to click a few pictures….i would need a 360 degree camera to capture the entirety of it all….as soon as I put a frame to it..it disappears….and if someone were to ask me to describe the “it”..i am sure I would have no words or even expression..probably a moronic expressionless face is what they did receive…
I have stepped out of my own life..sometimes feels like this is the easiest thing to do….no responsibilties, no attachments, no obligations….just pure space..like living alone…..
Someone earns to feed you
Someone does something, he likes/dislikes so you enjoy this calm….follow your dreams….Enjoy…..
I can enjoy this time, because I know what’s on the other side and I know how valuable and precious these moments are….
How savoury the feeling is …to cook for someone….to be there at home, when one needs to talk…to be “in form” when the other just throws hints and subtly states the unstated…to pick up those clues…..
The most boring jobs are also the most interesting because boredom is never in things themselves but in our perception of them….As they say:
An ordinary is as extraordinary as you think it is
A life as livable as much as you want to live
And a wait as memorable as the moments that make it….

Yellow
Think too much of quiet ,just like too much of clutter, does not let one write......Nothingness is like a vast expanse of land, where thoughts flow unbeaten for hours on end and moods linger....the days are sprayed with some of most mundane yet passionate jobs, which life seemed to forever ignore earlier...which by there very nature were never in the quadrant of the most important and most urgent jobs.....
Anyways....this deserves another post, probably some other time....for now..the lyrics of the song which, I love to hear, which leaves a savoury taste, a nice whiff of fresh air, some fragrances of the days gone by.....
Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah, they were all yellow.
I came along,
I wrote a song for you,
And all the things you do,
And it was called yellow.
So then I took my turn,
Oh what a thing to have done,
And it was all yellow.
Your skin
Oh yeah,your skin and bones,
Turn into something beautiful,
You know,
you know I love you so,
You know I love you so.
I swam across,
I jumped across for you,
Oh what a thing to do.
Cos you were all yellow,
I drew a line,
I drew a line for you,
Oh what a thing to do,
And it was all yellow.
Your skin,
Oh yeah your skin and bones,
Turn into something beautiful,
And you know for you,
I’d bleed myself dry for you,
I’d bleed myself dry.
It’s true,
look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine.
Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And all the things that you do.

Difference
There is a connection,
we do not speak
or even touch
I dont know you
and from where you came
The life you had
or did not have
The insecurities you suffered
I do not know
If you suffered
indifference
or racism
If your father fought with your mother
Or you did have the food you wanted
and you ran in dank office corriders,
wanting a job you wanted....
Whether life was unfair, cruel on you?
The energy you generate is negative
But I do know that NOW
You are sick.
suffering pessimism
you smell foul of deceit
of regret
of an identity crises
of cynicism
whatever it was,
the sun rises for you too
wake up,
though soiled
hurt
lost
wake up
'no matter what your past, you are responsible for who you are'
free yourself
from the scars of the past
that have an impact, long after the context is of no signifance
Get Up
Make a mark on the world!!!
Wake Up the sun has risen for you too...

In Transit
Scratch out the dates on the calendar
Let the distinction between days and nights disappear
Let time explode
Let horizons blur
Let your body age
Let skin wrinkle and
Let your hair turn grey
Let life drift between the fingers
Like water on an open palm
Don’t think
Don’t pause
Just breathe
Feel free
Numb
Happy
Experience the power of just being
In the “Now.”
